The DRC is still awaiting the publication of a new government since the appointment of Bruno Tshibala to the Prime Minister's office about a month ago. According to reliable sources, the blocking would be due to the rejection by the Head of State of certain names appearing on the version proposed by Mr Tshibala. Meanwhile, the socio-economic crisis is intensifying in a country that operates without a budget since January 2017.

Following his appointment on 7 April, Bruno Tshibala undertook consultations with the political class to train his government team. Since then, it's silence.

According to several sources, Bruno Tshibala therefore proposed a list of the members of his government to President Joseph Kabila. But the latter would have rejected certain candidatures and not the least. These would be the cadres of the Rally of the Opposition Olenghankoy Wing, from which emerged the new Prime Minister.

On the other hand, some personalities of the society and the Rally led by the Tandem Felix Tshisekedi and Pierre Lumbi declined the offer of Mr. Tshibala.

Meanwhile, since the 2017 budget has not yet been voted on, the country is working with the provisional appropriations of more than USD 550 million, adopted by Parliament at the end of December 2016.

On the social front, the Congolese currency continues to depreciate, leading to higher prices for goods and services in the domestic market.
